Quick Appetizer Solutions

• Buy up an abundance of fresh herbs, toss them on a platter and top with mini vegetables and a store-bought dip.
• Stop at your deli counter and purchase an assortment of olives. When you get home, warm in a sauté pan with a little olive oil, fresh slivered garlic and red chili flakes.
• Buy a ready-made soup and add a special touch by garnishing with a homemade crostini (toasted baguette rounds) and chopped fresh herbs.

Ready, Set, Table

• Forgot to pick up flowers? Use lemons, limes or even green apples in a decorative bowl or vase.
• A little short on dessert plates? Use your water or stemless wine glasses.
• While you are shopping for food, grab a tube of inexpensive wrapping paper with no pattern and use as a runner for an instant splash of colour on your table.

No-Fuss Fabulous Bartending

• Impress guests with a special cocktail like this Harvest Spritzer. Dress up a glass of white wine with a splash of soda and pomegranate and/or blueberry juice. Garnish with a few fresh blueberries and you have an elegant yet easy aperitif to toast the start of the evening. Having only one type of cocktail to pour will simplify your bartending duties.

Chef Tip: Pour pitchers of ice water garnished with lemon, lime or orange slices. This is an easy (and inexpensive) way to elevate the mood of your dinner. P.S. Remember to pick up a bag of ice.
