Oats
Oats are low in fat and high in complex carbs, which keep you feeling full longer (curbing the need to snack). Oats are rich in B vitamins, folate, iron, magnesium, zinc, fibre and protein, and contain vitamin E and flavonoids (antioxidants), which break down cholesterol and help prevent cancer.

Tips: Scotch oats, steel-cut or Irish oatmeal may take longer to cook but they are rich and chewy. Avoid flavoured instant oatmeal – it’s loaded with salt and sugar. Eat 1-1 1/2 cups of large-flake oatmeal for breakfast and flavour with maple syrup (which is high in nutrients and lower in calories than honey).

Joyce Miller writes:

When i get a cold or similiar illness i have toasted garlic and cheese sandwiches, i make toast butter it and crush the garlic and basically use the cheese to cut the hotness of the garlic to make it edible, and you can vary this by adding tomatoes or even use bagels. You will notice the difference usually by the next morning the toxins it kills in your throat etc. are loosened and your feeling less congested.

Would really have preferred the list, as a list, with a clickable feature for the "extra information."
