Coastal Treasures
While these multi-layered goodies have many aliases, the city of Nanaimo B.C., claims Nanaimo Bars originated with a recipe contest 35 years ago. An enterprising citizen entered her recipe and added a dash of regional pride by naming the sweet treats after her hometown.

Prairie Pride
Red River Cereal, the "ridiculously healthy" cereal, originated in 1924 in Manitoba's Red River Valley. It contains wheat flakes, rye flakes and flax (cracked and whole), making it rich in dietary fibre and omega-3 fatty acids. The name Saskatoon is derived from the Cree name of Saskatchewan's indigenous berry. It has a subtle, wild flavour and its antioxidant qualities are similar to blueberries. These "ridiculously delicious" muffins capture an incredible amount of Prairie goodness.

A Rich History
As the French settled in "New France" in the early 17th century, tourtiere came to refer to a pastry containing meat or fish that was cooked in a deep, round dish. Most often made with pork, there are regional variations that call for veal, beef or chicken. Pair with cranberry chutney or grainy Dijon.

Jewels of the Sea
Digby, also known as the Scallop Capital of the World, is a charming city on the Bay of Fundy in south-western Nova Scotia. This fishing community, founded in 1783, is home port to one of the world's largest scallop fleets.
