Steamed Jasmine Rice

Try this as part of a Quick-Prep Dinner Party

Instructions

  1. Place 2 ½ cups jasmine rice in a bowl and rinse with running water to remove the milkiness of the rice.
  2. Place rice in a pot and cover with cold water. You will need just shy of 3 cups of water. Bring to a boil uncovered then reduce heat and simmer covered until rice is cooked through, about 20 minutes.
  3. Remove pot from heat and leave covered until you are ready to eat. Fluff with a fork just before serving.

Nutritional information

Nutrients per serving (with 1 cup rice and ½ cup sugar snap peas): 689 calories, 30 g fat, 36 g protein, 65 g carbohydrates, 2 g fibre. Excellent source of vitamin C, folate and iron.
