Pork Won Ton Soup
Wish reader Valerie Foster remembers folding hundreds of won tons with her sisters while their mom, Stella Liwanpo, mixed large quantities of meat. Valerie says the whole process was "really a family affair.”
Ingredients (Serves 5)
| 1/2 | pound lean ground pork, cooked |
| 1/4 | cup shrimp, finely chopped |
| 1 | tablespoon each soy sauce and mirin |
| 1 | teaspoon sesame oil |
| 1 | package won ton wrappers |
| 3 | green onions, chopped |
| 8 | cups chicken broth |
Instructions
- Mix ground pork, shrimp, soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil and half the chopped green onions.
- Place one teaspoon of the mixture on each individual won ton. Brush edge with water and fold in half diagonally. Bring the longest two ends together, sealing with water and a firm pinch.
- Gently drop won tons into simmering chicken broth. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until they float to the surface. Place 5 won tons in serving bowls an ladle broth over top. Garnish with remaining green onions.

I tried this receipe on the weekend. And it is not a 20 minutes receipe. The prep time just to put together the wontons is 45 minutes, but otherwise once its all put together, the soup is breeze to make and tastes great too..

Hi Loony,
Ok, fair game, you caught us! We realize the dumplings take some time to put together but after that the soup comes together so fast we wanted to include this recipe for our readers. If you are short on time purchase frozen dumplings. Thanks for writing to us.
