Apple Pie Filling
Ingredients (Makes one 9-inch pie)
| 1 | lb. No-fail Pie Dough |
| 6-8 | Royal Gala apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/4-inch slices |
| 1/3 | cup white sugar |
| 1/4 | teaspoon cinnamon |
| 1/4 | teaspoon ground nutmeg |
| 1/2 | teaspoon lemon zest |
| 2 | tablespoons cold, unsalted butter |
|   | egg wash |
Instructions
- Prepare No-fail Pie Dough, line 9" pie plate and place pie top on a baking sheet.
- Preheat oven to 425 F.
- Toss apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon zest.
- Spread apples into the bottom of chilled pastry shell.
- Dot butter in small pieces over apple filling.
- Brush edge of pie shell with egg wash. Lay top over filled shell and crimp edges.
- Cut several small vents in the top and brush with the remaining egg wash.
- Bake for 12 minutes at 425 F.
- Reduce heat to 350 F and continue baking for 1 hour.
