Applejack Caramel Sauce
Caramel is the new chocolate - indulgent, sinful and downright delicious
Ingredients (Makes 1 cup)
| 2 tbsp | water |
| 2 cups | granulated sugar |
| 2 cups | apple juice |
| 1 | cinnamon stick |
| 2 | star anise |
Instructions
- In a small pot, combine water and sugar. Over high heat, bring to a boil and cook until syrup becomes amber, about 7 minutes. Remove from heat and slowly whisk in apple juice, being careful of the steam. Add cinnamon and star anise. Return to high heat and bring to a boil.
- Lower heat and simmer until reduced to one cup of liquid, about 20 minutes.
- Discard cinnamon stick and star anise.
