Turn an unfinished and cramped studio space into a beautiful home that meets all of life’s needs

“Suzanne used what I had, but moved the furniture around to make my small home feel larger,” says Sandy. “She got rid of the oversized armchairs in the main living area and replaced them with lightweight iconic chairs, which completely opened up the space.”

Tip: Install sliding screens or heavy curtains for clearly defined, but truly flexible zones. Close them when you need to keep the bedroom private or open them to play up the lofty feel. A large area rug helps to designate the central living area. For a quick update, lay a too-small-on-its-own cowhide rug over basic sisal.
