Jack Purcell: Canadian Badminton Star

When I was growing up, my dad had a pair of these clay-court tennis shoes from his college days in the ’60s. I’ve always thought they were cool – but now I’ve got to get myself a pair. Last week, we were working on a Saturday and our creative director Sandy Kim came in dressed nearly head-to-toe in black wearing a Muji version of this old-school tenny in pristine white. She looked stylin’ – but super comfortable. A couple days later, Wish food director Andrea Stewart arrived at the office in a pair of Jacks, again with just the right mix of fashion and comfort. I was starting to feel downright envious. But my craving reached critical mass when we were putting the finishing touches on our upcoming feature home story – a beautiful old house renovated to gallery-like perfection – and there, in one of the photos, was a pair of Jack Purcells, the perfect lived-in accessory to the gorgeous front hall. This weekend, shoe shopping will top my list.
